No — Trencher is a venue. Pros on the platform are independent businesses, not Trencher employees. The contract for any job is between you and the pro directly.
Posting and getting matched is free. You only pay once you approve a specific pro's quote.
Payments are processed by Stripe — pay by credit/debit card or a linked bank account, whichever you prefer. Stripe holds your payment until you confirm the job is actually done — it's never released to the pro before that, except through the dispute process if something goes wrong.
Message the pro first — most things get resolved that way. If you can't agree, you can file a dispute and a real person reviews it and decides whether you're refunded or the pro's paid.
Before you've picked a pro, yes, instantly and free. After you've paid, cancellation needs the pro's agreement too, since they may already be on-site.
For trades that require a Michigan state license, our team manually checks the license against the state's public registry before marking a pro verified. Not every trade legally requires one, so some honest, legitimate pros won't show that badge.
Nothing to sign up. Trencher takes 5% of a job's price, only once it's completed and paid out — no subscription, no lead fees, no bidding against other pros for the same job.
The moment the customer confirms the job's done, we start the transfer to your connected bank account automatically — usually that lands quickly, though your bank's own processing can occasionally add a day or two.
Depends on your trade. Some Michigan trades require a state license at any price; others allow unlicensed work under $600 per job. The app tells you which applies when you register.
